Our undergraduate brothers continue to steadily grow a quality Chapter. The fall Rush produced a 24 man Pledge Class that has the Chapter Leadership Team and Alumni Advisors excited. The new recruitment class is an impressive group of young men full of energy and excitement about being DU’s and helping their Chapter to be recognized on campus and as one of DU’s top 5 Chapters in Delta Upsilon International.
Our Chapter is currently in a unique position. The current Chapter Leadership Team is comprised of 10 officers. Five of those officers are only sophomores and 9 of 10 have received high quality leadership training from DU International staff. Furthermore, 21 of the 24 New Members are Freshmen and only about 5 undergraduate brothers will graduate this May. Conservatively assuming a Spring Pledge Class of 10 our Chapter will enter Fall Rush with approximately 70 men!
How did we arrive in this enviable position? Certainly one reason is that many alumni brothers have stepped up to advise and become involved in assisting and mentoring our undergraduate brothers to the benefit of all involved. Also, we have an excellent and involved Alumni Board of Directors led by Ken Bobadilla and many others.
However, the primary reason for our Chapter’s recent success is generous alumni contributions to our Chapter Educational Account (CEA). All of you who have contributed have the gratitude of your alumni volunteers because most of us would not want to continue our efforts without your financial contributions that have made this level of Chapter success possible.
One of our (un-named) alumni members from the 80s is actively involved with the undergraduates. He has generously presented a challenge to all of us to help fill our depleted CEA with more donations before year end so we can continue to offer leadership training to qualified undergraduates as our Chapter continues to grow.
