We had more teams this year, great food and almost enough beer. The best part was that for the first time, bros from all eras participated in the tournament. There were young ducks, old ducks, and we even had a team of MIT ducks. Congratulations to Brady Lamar, John Murphy & Francis Murphy, the Sun Devil team from ASU and winners of this year’s tournament. You guys always come out tough and this year you finally did it. You beat the first year’s championship team, and always a tough match up, Kirk Cowan, Rio and Todd Campbell.
We would also like to give a special shout out to Jake Downey’s son, Charlie. He faced a 4 to 1 deficit and the final out of their elimination game. On the mound, Kelsey LaTouf reaches back with merciless ferocity on the 8 year old and throws him an inside fastball, but the kid, an unflappable fastball hitter, squares it dead red and single handedly brings his team from the brink with a walk off grand slam, advancing the Downeys and Sachs to the next round. Father and son rejoice. Big thanks to Mark London for capturing the entire moment on film. You can see it below. Is it too soon to rush that kid?

We saw a lot of other old friends at Moray’s Bar the night before the tournament. It’s great to see so many bros from every era mix and mingle like we do. Most other fraternity alumni associations don’t do this. The ones that do aren’t nearly as active as our organization. If you haven’t been to one lately, be sure to check our calendar of upcoming events.
Special thanks to Joe Duffel for putting together a great tournament. We all miss Brother Tim McGee, and his family and friends are so grateful that we honor his life with an event that celebrates what a virtuous and fun friend he was to us all.
